With thirty-one Gillin & Maple students staying on campus for the February long weekend, we had an excellent opportunity to bond as a smaller group. Many firsts were had this past week – we had some lively fun at the bowling alley on Thursday night, zipped down a snow hill in Quebec for tubing on Friday, and demonstrated our artistic talents creating live art during our plant night on Sunday. While downtown Ottawa continued to be plagued by demonstrations, Gillinites still had the opportunity to get their shopping fix in by attending Tanger Outlet, chauffeured by Mr. Lavergne, on Sunday afternoon. While I was unable to attend, a true perk of working with teens is sending some “personal shoppers” — thank you, Eva and Alex, my two stylish shoppers!
As Ashbury completes their exceptional Black History Month celebrations and presentations, I could not be more proud of the involvement of many of our boarding students. During some tumultuous times over the past few weeks, Alexandra and Savannah have demonstrated remarkable maturity and leadership. During the finale – Black is Power – last night, Savannah and Stacey were phenomenal MC’s of the evening. Articulate, poised, professional.
With March break just around the corner, we urge everyone to have their plans sent in by next Friday, if not sooner. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this break and I will do my best to problem-solve.
