Grades 4–8
The Junior School distinguishes itself by providing a challenging, broad-based program, which promotes critical thinking and creativity. Learning beyond the borders of the classroom aims to enable every student to develop in the areas of academics, athletics, arts, co-curriculars, community, bilingualism, and leadership. Clear standards and guidelines in work, sport, dress, and behaviour help to achieve these goals.
Classrooms are designed to meet the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic needs of all learners, while outdoor spaces such as the green roof, athletic fields, and outdoor amphitheatre provide room to explore, challenge and create. Explore the Junior School academic offerings.
Grades 9–12
The Senior School experience teaches students to think, speak and write clearly, critically, and creatively. Students explore challenging curriculum that inspires them to look beyond themselves towards the greater good. Classroom work is complemented by learning on the playing field, in the arts, in community service, and through experiences within our international community.
Ashbury graduates enter university with the knowledge, skills, integrity and compassion born of careful scholarship, richly rewarding faculty contacts, physical activity, and spiritual reflection
International Baccalaureate
Ashbury has more than 40 years as an IB World School, offering a high-quality education with fully-accredited IB teachers. Students in the two-year Diploma Programme choose from a wide range of IB subjects and levels and have the opportunity to develop artistic, cultural, athletic, service, and leadership skills.
For the IB Diploma, students study six subject areas in depth, including a dual language program in English, French, Spanish or other international language. Ashbury offers IB studies in alignment with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements so our senior students can make choices suitable to their interests, abilities, and university plans while earning both the OSSD and the ID Diploma.
100% of Ashbury students complete IB English. Approximately 75% of Ashbury students complete other IB Certificates of the IB Diploma Programme.
The IB program is accessible to any engaged and motivated student with an average of 75% and higher. Our students may choose the full IB Diploma, the IB Bilingual Diploma or up to four IB certificates, although it is important to understand that it is the full IB Diploma which provides the best preparation for university, as it is a comprehensive program with both depth and breadth.
