This Week in Gillin

Ms. Kate Lane
During Arts and Internationalism Week, we had a lot to celebrate within our very diverse and talented Gillin family. I continue to be impressed and inspired by our passionate group of Gillinites. We had Nazifa and Eva He hosting the Voices of Asian Heritage panel last week which had an exceptional turnout and prompted insightful conversation amongst our Ashbury community.  Last night, girls gathered in the common room to enjoy the Coffee House, which showcased various forms of art — paintings by Audrey, drawing by Emma, photography by Hyebin, singing by Alice, and poetry by Eva H and Eva A.

With the last week of assignments and summatives almost complete, our boarders have been working hard this week to finalize their classes. Next week will still be on-line classes, so engagement will be important although they should have a relaxing final week with their classmates and teachers. We will continue to encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy our beautiful spring here in Ottawa before departing on their adventures home in the weeks to come.

We were also very excited to welcome a brand-new member of GIllin this week — no quarantine required!  Ms. Hickson rescued a beautiful, smart, friendly young dog who is already bonding with many of our boarders.  Milo’s constantly-wagging tail brings a smile to everyone she meets and brings our res pet count to two cats and three dogs. We are thrilled for Ms. Hickson’s great luck in meeting this wonderful pup!
