This Week in Gillin

Ms. Kate Lane
Gillinites reveled in their four-day break last weekend, baking egg soufflés, pancakes and special Cadbury egg cookies to share with their housemates. And there was no shortage of chocolate bunnies to go around—thank you, Mr. Godkin!—with special surprises outside everyone’s doors on Sunday morning and an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon. Students also demonstrated their artistic talents, painting eggs and creating name-plates for Gillin teachers.

With three days of in-class learning completed, our girls are appreciating their online day today and easing into their upcoming April Break. I’ve reminded them regularly that this isn’t simply one week, but nine consecutive days to use to the fullest! Our wonderful boarding team has a variety of activities planned for next week, with a couple of our new teachers front-lining activities such as open gym time, Frisbee golf, yoga, netball and other physically-distanced events.

As many girls are also eager to start their IB exam preparation, the CLC/Library will be open each afternoon providing a quiet space to focus on their studies. A student-teacher has also volunteered her time to run organization and planning workshops, as well as one-on-one (virtual) support. We hope that all of our boarders dive into a healthy mix of work, rest, and organized activities next week as this is a proven formula to boost happiness and make the most of your breaks.
