OSSD, IB Certificate and Diploma requirements to continue with distance learning

Dear Ashbury Students and Parents, Chers élèves et parents,

As we gather new information from both the Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate, we want to assure you that students’ ability to earn credits leading to the OSSD and meet the IB Certificate and Diploma requirements will continue with our distance learning program. Both the Ministry and the IB will be communicating more details, but it is important to note that distance learning will remain an important part of you schooling and any final assessments may be done virtually, based on the length of the school closure. Please note the Premier of Ontario confirmed today that the school closure will go beyond April 6 and that more details will follow in the coming days.

With today’s announcement by the IB that May 2020 examinations will no longer be held, please note that IB Diplomas/IB Certificates will be granted “based on student’s submitted coursework and the established assessment expertise, rigor and quality control already built into the programmes” and this includes work completed during Ashbury’s distance learning programs that align with OSSD requirements for the balance of school year. The IB will share full details and FAQs with us and on their website by March 27.

For any other IB questions, please contact IB Coordinator, Ms. Shannon Howlett, and OSSD questions to Director of Student Services, Ms. Anjelien Slater or Head of Senior School, Mr. Gary Godkin.

Thank you,

Mr. Norman Southward
Head of School – Directeur
