I am pleased to announce that Ms. Amy Foley has been appointed Deputy Head, Teaching and Learning, effective this summer, 2023. Ms. Foley comes to Ashbury with 20 years experience as a teacher, instructional coach and administrator both in Canada (Nunavut and Ontario) and overseas, including the past 12 years at the Shanghai American School (SAS), one of the premier international schools in China with 2700 students and 350 faculty. Currently, Amy is the Associate Director of Educational Programs at SAS and was previously Teacher and Instructional Coach for Grade 6-12 teachers and Coordinator of the Innovation Institute.
Holding a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Waterloo, a B.Ed. from York University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Program Development from the University of Toronto, Amy also is an OCT Teacher with various advanced qualifications including Principal’s Qualifications and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Ms. Foley has a proven track record in supporting teacher growth and professional development within a range of program contexts with significant focus on the IB, school accreditation and building capacity and collaboration in teaching excellence and student learning. Her extensive experience in international education and in the full life of schools and the student experience was apparent throughout the selection process, as was her dedication to professional pedagogical practices and the use of educational technology. She is committed to DEIB principles that support our pluralism goals and community well-being.
