Winter Weather Statement

Dear Students and Parents,

Please note the following statement related to winter weather. We are expecting to have normal classes tomorrow but there will inevitably be some late arrivals and bus service may be impacted. In the future, any weather-related updates would be communicated as per below, with additional details about class expectations provided by Junior and Senior School Heads.

Winter weather statement – December 15, 2022

With snowfalls forecast for our region, please note the following related to winter weather:

As a boarding and day school, the Ashbury College campus normally remains open during various winter weather events.  For day families, note that when inclement weather is forecast, please prepare for potential transport delays, plan travel accordingly and assess whether or not you are able to get to school safely. If you are unable to come to school, students will be expected to keep up to date with classwork as best they can through any assigned work on Edsby.

Note that the bus program will not run when the Ottawa Student Transport Authority (OSTA) decides to cancel transportation services. The OSTA decision can be found on their website, and a message from Leduc will be released via Twitter. Ashbury’s in-person programs and courses continue to run normally in these cases.

In extreme cases, in-person classes and/or school programs may be cancelled and will be communicated via email and posted on the school website, if at all possible, by 6:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Note that on the rare occasion of such circumstances, details will be provided as to class expectations, with general school offices and food services remaining open for boarding students.

Thank you,

Mr. Southward
