Grade 12 – There was some excitement in the air this week with an increasing number of students starting to receive offers from their top universities. This is the start of many more weeks ahead when universities will begin to roll out offers.

In the meantime, Grade 12 students should be checking their university portals for information about residence applications and what may be needed to secure a spot in residence. Also, many universities are offering Open Houses through the coming weeks and weekends, and especially during March Break.

Many Grade 12 students have not yet completed the Form sent by Ms. Johnston last week for confirmation of official names for the purpose of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Please check with your student to see that this has been completed. It must be completed no later than Monday, February 28.

Grade 11 – Course selection meetings continued this past week. It has been a pleasure to meet with members of the Class of 2023. Next week is fully booked, plus a few extra meetings the week leading to the March Break. There have been a few students who have missed their meetings. All meetings are scheduled to be in-person, unless the student is home for reasons of illness. If a student is going to be absent, please have the student send an email or message well-in advance so that meeting time may be assigned to someone else. At this point it may be difficult to reschedule meetings in a timely manner. Thank you to the students who have taken time out of their evening to also meet with me.

If students are still considering SAT testing for the United States, it is important to look at the College Board website for testing dates. The May testing date at Ashbury is already full and there is no waitlist option with the pandemic. Reminder, however, many schools will remain Test-Optional for another year or two. It is important for students to review the Standardized Testing Policy for International Students at each university.
