With three weeks left before the December holidays, Grade 12 students are in the thick of university meetings and applications, while also trying to stay calm and focus on their school work. Let’s work together to ensure this happens.

Individual Meetings: Students are to check their Outlook email and calendar to ensure they have received and accepted their individual meeting request. It is important that students attend these meetings with applications started and ideas noted, while also being open to new suggestions. The goal is to find best-fit programs and universities.

Ontario/Canadian Applications: Students are to submit Ontario applications (OUAC) prior to submitting other Canadian applications. Students are also encouraged to take their time and pace their applications in order to put forward their best application.

University Emails: Students are reminded that universities will acknowledge their application via email. Students are encouraged to open, read and save each university email. Students should also be noting their Username and Passwords for each application and follow the necessary ‘to do’ lists in each university portal. Supplementary/additional requirements for applications are usually found within each portal.

Virtual Visits: This past week included Simon Fraser UniversityQueen’s University, and Trent University. Notes were posted in OneNote for students to access. Next week, students are invited to the following virtual presentations: Monday, November 29 – IE International University in SpainWednesday, December 1 – University of Calgary.

Deadlines on the Horizon:

Ontario: January 13

UBC: January 15

Concordia: February 1

McGill: February 1

U.S. Regular Decision: January 1

UK: January 26

The University Counselling Office should have been notified, by now, for any U.S. Regular Decision applications and the UK applications, or other international applications. Our office will be preparing documentation for these students beginning next week to ensure completion by the end of term. Students are reminded that late notification of applications may cause a delay in their documentation required for applications.
