Grade 12 Students:

As we prepare for Closing ceremonies, if your graduate will not be attending the Closing on June 18, please send an email to Ms. Johnston at sjohnston@ashbury.ca to inform her of this information and to confirm the mailing address to which you would like to have graduation documentation sent.

Some graduates have yet to complete the required two Forms due at the end of May:

Final University Destination Tracking Form

IB Transcript Request Form

Please ask your graduate to complete these forms to ensure accuracy at our Closing and for the purpose of universities receiving transcripts this summer.

Grade 11 Students:

Interested Grade 11 Students are invited to participate in a University Application Supplementary Writing Workshop – June 27-30.
The objective of this workshop will be to provide students with instruction and guided writing time to support the various writing requirements of university applications.
·      Monday 27 – The U.S. Common Application Personal Essay
·      Tuesday 28 – The UK (UCAS) + Irish (Atlantic Bridge) Personal Statement
·      Wednesday 29 – The “Why Us?” Essay
·      Thursday 30 – Other Supplemental Writing Pieces and/or additional writing time

Workshop Times are as follows:
·      Morning Start Time: 10:00 a.m. to Noon – Instructional + Pre-Writing Time
·      Afternoon Start Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Optional Focused Guided Writing Time

If students are interested and have the time to participate in this workshop, please submit this form no later than Wednesday, June 15: University Application Supplementary Writing  Workshop. Students can also register for the dates they feel are applicable to them. Not all applications require a supplementary writing piece (especially in Canada), and therefore not all students need to consider this workshop.

SAT Registration – A reminder that Ashbury College is the only SAT test centre in the Ottawa area. The College Board portal to register for the October and December test dates is open, and spots are already filling quickly. Students need to create a College Board account first, then register. Ms. Johnston is our Test Centre Coordinator. If you require assistance with the registration, or have any questions, please send her an email at sjohnston@ashbury.ca and she will provide you with further direction.

The Guidance Class of 2023 Notebook will continue to be populated with information for students throughout the summer. Students are encouraged to do university planning and access information there. This is a shared work area for me and the students.

I continue to welcome university counselling and course meetings for Grade 11 students and parents until July 8, and then again later in August, prior to school opening. Please schedule an appointment with me using my Calendly link. I have enjoyed the opportunity to personalize the conversation and planning for your rising senior.
